NC STATE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF TEXTILES

RALEIGH, NC • 6,000 SF

 

310ai was contracted to design the renovation of the former College of Textiles Burlington Library, which was relocated to the new James B. Hunt Jr. Library on Centennial Campus. The resulting 6,400 SF renovation includes design studios, classrooms, offices, digital lab, and student commons space.

 

 

BARTON COLLEGE HAMLIN STUDENT CENTER

WILSON, NC • 27,000 SF

 

310 Architecture & Interiors, PA was asked to develop a concept study analyzing the potential renovation of and addition to the Barton College Student Center located in Wilson, NC. The two floors of this 24,000 SF facility are to be totally renovated and the spaces to be upgraded in multiple phases include a major dining hall, kitchen, private dining areas, offices, student lounge areas, a lecture hall, bookstore and cafe.

DUKE KUNSHAN UNIVERSITY

KUNSHAN, CHINA

 

Duke Kunshan University (DKU) is a partnership of Duke University and Wuhan University to create a world-class university offering a range of academic programs and conferences for students from China and throughout the world.  Duke University contracted 310ai to perform architectural programming and space planning services as part of this

new campus project.

 

 

DUKE UNIVERSITY SOCIOLOGY/PSYCHOLOGY

DURHAM, NC • 100 SEATS

 

This design-build project with a local contractor consisted of updating a worn out tiered classroom space. Primary program considerations included adding natural light to the space, improving sightlines from the seated areas to the front of the room and upgrading the finishes and furniture and AV equipment.

UNC HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY

CHAPEL HILL, NC • 67,000 SF

 

This redesign of an existing Health Sciences Library was focused on creating a new consistent building vocabulary. The original dark, unorganized and inefficient interior was transformed into an intuitive space that promotes research and learning. This multi-phased renovation included complete building and infrastructure upgrades.

SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA HIGHER EDUCATION CENTER

ABINGDON, VA • 90,000 SF

 

This education complex is located on the campus of Virginia Highlands Community College. Building spaces include undergraduate and graduate classrooms, student lounge / cafeteria, distance learning laboratories, media production rooms and a 1,500 seat multipurpose room. These functions are tied together with a two-story circulation / lounge space that runs continuously across the front of the building. Views of the surrounding mountains and valleys are emphasized throughout the building.

UNC GREENSBORO SOFTBALL COMPLEX

GREENSBORO, NC • 550 SEATS

 

This renovation and addition to the UNC-G Softball Complex includes a new field, drainage system, irrigation system, fencing, 550 seat stadium, concessions, press box, restrooms, dugouts, bullpens, indoor and outdoor hitting facility and maintenance storage building. The program is designed to meet UNC-G guidelines and to complement the existing men’s brick baseball stadium.
